Back to the Moon • 2023 • 40 minutes

A little over half a century ago, at the end of the “moon race”, few doubted that the Moon would soon become a full-fledged “seventh continent” of our planet. Soviet engineers even designed base cities for future colonists. However, none of that materialized — by the mid-1970s, humanity had suddenly lost interest in this celestial body, and it seemed permanent. But scientific discoveries in the past couple of decades have shifted the situation — serious discussions about exploring Earth's satellite have resumed. In summer 2023, Russia not only returns to the Moon but also takes a step toward staying there long-term: in August, the automated interplanetary station Luna-25 is to be launched.
